LET'S READ

Tipping

In the USA and Canada, it’s normal to give tips to people in service jobs, such as taxi drivers, airport and hotel porters, bartenders and restaurant servers because most of the places don’t include a service charge on the check. However, in Europe it is often included on the bill, while in Asia, on the other hand, service people don’t expect any extra payment at all.

To tip or not to tip?

Since tipping customs are so different from country to country, the best advice is to always ask your foreign colleagues or customers about tipping in their countries.

LISTEN AGAIN

Listen to the audio with information about amounts and prices and write the numbers you hear. Then, check your answers with your colleagues.

UP TO YOU

What’s your address and telephone number?
What’s your credit card expiration date?
How often do you tip service people?
Are service charges included in the check in Brazil?
Who do you tip?
How much do you leave for a tip?
